How browser-local file processing works

Understand what On-device means, what still uses the network and when memory is released.

Published and reviewed by Maharaja on .

Selecting a file

The browser grants the page access to the file you explicitly choose. ForgeMyFile tools marked On-device read that input through browser APIs.

Processing in memory

JavaScript, Web Workers and built-in browser capabilities perform the requested transformation on the device. Practical limits depend on CPU and available memory.

Website network requests

HTML, CSS, JavaScript, fonts, consent services and future advertising can use the network. That is separate from sending selected tool input to a processing server.

Ending the session

Generated object URLs and active file references are temporary. Save results before reloading or closing the tab.

Privacy controls

Choose what is optional

File contents used by on-device tools are not an optional tracking category and are not sent to a ForgeMyFile processing server.
